THE BRIDGES” immerses us in the simple and poetic story of three adolescents who come together around a frightening secret that will inevitably and suddenly carry them from the shores of childhood to those of adulthood.

For this Franco-Norwegian project conducted in collaboration with the students of Nord University in Levanger, Elise Vigneron has chosen to stage the novel The Bridges by Norwegian author Tarjei Vesaas. Through this pared-down and profoundly poetic polyphonic narrative, we are drawn into the story of three adolescents who, confronted with a secret tragedy, suddenly drift from the shores of childhood to those of adulthood. Between first stirrings of emotion, the exaltation of life and the song of the earth, this performance unfolds as a choral and dreamlike form where identities multiply, bodies shape landscapes, and speech transforms into song. We are invited to experience a human existence merging with the rhythms of a telluric and powerful nature.

This extremely pared-down, highly poetic polyphonic narrative constantly oscillates between dreamlike visions and raw realism, offering a condensation of the elements that characterize Tarjei Vesaas’s writing: a song of the earth, first awakenings of emotion, and an exaltation of life.
