THE COMPAGNY

Elise Vigneron founded the company Théâtre de l’Entrouvert in 2010, which is now supported by the French Ministry of Culture, the Région Sud, and the Vaucluse Departmental Council. The company also receives support from the City of Apt (84), SPEDIDAM, and ADAMI for its creations, as well as backing from ONDA for national touring and from the Institut Français for international tours.
From its inception, Théâtre de l’Entrouvert has distinguished itself through its international presence. Initially showcased in puppet festivals, the company quickly gained recognition and began performing at major multidisciplinary international events and festivals, such as the Festival d’Avignon In, the Seoul Performing Arts Festival, Mime London, the Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival, Unidram Festival in Potsdam, the Dialangshan Festival in China, and the World Festival of Puppet Theaters in Charleville-Mézières.

In recent years, the company has developed an eco-responsible approach, designing long-term international projects based on cooperation. Its flagship initiative was the transmission of the show ANYWHERE to an American team, which premiered in January 2023 in Chicago with support from the Institut Français and the FACE Foundation. This collaboration with Blair Thomas, director of the Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival, paved the way for a touring cycle in the United States. It includes performances of ANYWHERE at the Chicago Festival and the HERE Arts Center in New York in January, February, and March 2025, as well as performances of LANDS, Habiter le monde, under the title TRACES, in New York and Rochester in August–September 2025. This tour is supported by the Institut Français and Theatre & New Forms, a program initiated by Villa Albertine, the Albertine Foundation, and the AJT Fund.

Across Europe, Théâtre de l’Entrouvert continues to expand its artistic influence through regular tours in several Eastern European countries, notably Poland, Slovenia, Lithuania, and Germany. Franco-German collaboration has been particularly strong with the creation of RE:MEMBER, a co-production between Elise Vigneron, Julika Mayer, and members of the Puppet Theatre Ensemble of Magdeburg. The show was co-produced and toured in both France and Germany.
Following the co-production and touring support of Yngvild Aspeli, director of Nordland Visual Theatre, on the show Les Vagues, she invited Elise Vigneron, together with Jason Ezra Turner, head of the Faculty of Education and Arts at Nord University in Levanger, to direct the graduation performance for 16 students. This creation will premiere in May 2026, followed by a tour in Norway.

The new creation Mizu, meaning water in Japanese, co-created by Satchie Noro and Elise Vigneron, premiered in May 2025 at the Théâtre Le Vellein, Scènes de la CAPI in Villefontaine (38).
